An anxiety disorder differs from normal stress and anxiety in that it is more severe and long-lasting, and interferes with work and relationships. A person might have unrealistic and/or excessive fear and worry, their mind racing or going blank, decreased concentration and memory, indecisiveness, irritability, impatience, anger, confusion, restlessness or feeling “on edge” or nervous, fatigue, sleep disturbance, or vivid dreams.
Anxiety disorders can include generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, social phobia, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).
